We all have dreams for our futures, our own lives, personal development, experiences, adventures, and how our lives intertwine with others.
These dreams do not have to be perfect to be wonderful. These dreams do happen for people and they are wonderful!
For some, however, these dreams begin…
…and then they are shattered by one thing or another.
What has been known as secure is now in pieces. It can be confusing and frightening.
The pain can even be tangible, feeling the slicing apart by the sharpness of hurt and disappointment.
Agony.
Loss is often shocking. This break in our storylines can be devastating.
It was not supposed to happen to me!?
This feeling can knock the wind out of your soul.
I have been there.
Hope, for a time, felt like a fallacy.
I have since discovered it is not.
In fact, quite the opposite.
Hope can change it all.
Shattered dreams hurt, there is no question.
While not likely realized for some time, isn’t it also possible what we thought was our dream was actually in the way of the true possibilities? Those really available—we just could not see another path or what lay ahead.
Other times, I believe it is learning how to endure through what has happened.
The goal, for now, being that these hurts no longer debilitate us.
They are part of us, intertwined amongst all the rest; there, but not with only a weakening effect.
We are filled with a variety of experiences, one not typically defining us—certainly not the trauma.
Playing a part, yes.
Changing us, most definitely, yes.
Defining us, no!
It isn’t always easy or often what we expect, but there is a plan and we are not alone.
Hope changes things.
It changes US, but ONLY if we let it.
Hope has the capability to change EVERYTHING.
We have a role to play.
Are we willing to make the effort in doing our part?
Willing to allow this change, this possibility of something new?
Hope for a new way, a better quality of life, healthier relationships, a greater peace, a stronger sense of self.
Hope for a new life.
I have experienced many things—some good, even great; others sad, painful and heartbreaking.
I am sharing these reflections to accomplish multiple things, some I now know, while others are yet to be discovered.
I will share discoveries I have made, insights gained, and that which I am still learning, while continuing my search for clearer understanding in areas I do not yet grasp.
I also plan to share some realities of dreams that did not go as planned.
The “then what?” parts many do not talk about as much because it is not comfortable to do so.
For those of us who are, or have lived it—and even for those who may live it—there is so much that needs to be shared, taught and expressed.
I will write referring to the teachings of others. Some personal journal entries will be included, sharing moments, experiences, principles, lessons and truths I have learned.
What I know to be true for myself has come in different ways.
Some will be simple truths I personally believe, including things that can make our experiences better.
Others will be hard things that either I, or others, have dealt with—the realities for some.
I will share as I continue to learn through them, while I am still on this journey called life.
I desire to play a part in educating others on some harsh realities that many endure, hoping to increase understanding and develop compassion for those struggling through.
I also hope to play a part in bringing some comfort, support and guidance to those who know deep disappointment and heartache.
Even though it may feel like it at times, all is not lost.
There is a way out of the lonely and empty darkness.
Even more, there is much reason to have hope for a new and better way.
